Screen time is inevitable. Stories are powerful.

They're how children learn what to care about, who to be, and how the world works.

A smiling blue character with googly eyes and eyebrows, saying "This is the last one for now, but we'll watch again soon."

Meet Maka's co-founders

Tanyella and Isabel have built children's media before. Their last platform reached 15 million children across 26 countries. Maka came out of hundreds of conversations with parents, and a conviction that kids deserve media made with the same care we put into other tools for their development

Frequently Asked Questions

Maka is the only streaming app for kids 0-6 built on child development science. Every episode in the Maka catalog is sourced by our experts and evaluated through a framework developed with researchers at Yale Child Study Center to ensure alignment to your child's age and stage. There's no algorithm optimized for maximizing watch time, no autoplay into random content, and no ads. We're not trying to keep your kid watching longer. We're helping them watch better.

Yes! You can cast Maka to your TV using AirPlay from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. For the best experience, keep your device unlocked while they watch Maka. See our Help Center article for more.

You set a watch duration when setting up each child's profile. When time is almost up, Makaverse characters Scoot and Iris gently let your child know the session is ending. You can adjust the timer anytime before pressing play — see our Help Center for more.

Maka uses a parent-only hold gesture to exit, to discourage little fingers from exiting a session. For extra peace of mind, we recommend turning on Apple's Guided Access feature, which locks the device to Maka entirely. We have a step-by-step guide in our Help Center to set it up in under a minute.

You can create a separate profile for each child. Maka tailors content recommendations to each child's specific age and developmental stage, so your 2-year-old and your 5-year-old each see what's right for them. Switching between profiles is quick, and each child's favorites and channels stay separate.

We're currently available in the US App Store. We're planning to expand globally, and we'd love to let you know when we launch in your region. Join our waitlist and we'll reach out the moment it's available where you are.
